New York Senate passes resolution on Achebe
The Senate of New York State, in the United States has passed a resolution paying tribute to world acclaimed author Chinua Achebe.
In the resolution, the Senate said , Professor Achebe’s global significance “lies not only in his talent and recognition as a writer, but also as a critical thinker and essayist who has written extensively on questions of the role of culture in Africa along with the social and political significance of aesthetics and analysis of the post colonial state in Africa.”
The New York Senate noted that Achebe left behind a legacy “which will long endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all he served and befriended.”
The Legislative Body paused in its deliberations to mourn the death of the famous novelist just as it promised to present a copy of its resolution to the Achebe’s family.

Believe it or not, Li Jinpeng from China was born with 15-fingers and 16-toes (seven fingers on his left hand, eight on his right and eight toes on each foot.), though as you can see, not all of them are fully-functional. “The Door to Hell” is more than fiction, it’s a giant flaming hole in the middle of the Karakum Desert that has been burning for 40 years. The long burning crater is located in the middle of the Karakum Desert in Derweze, Turkmenistan. AOL Travel News notes the flaming hole started out as a crater that was created in 1971 when Soviet geologists drilling at the site tapped into a natural gas-filled cavern.
The ground beneath the drilling rig collapsed, leaving the giant 70 meter diameter hole in the middle of the Karakum Desert. Fearing that toxic methane gases being released from the massive crater would harm the residents of nearby Derweze, the team of geologists decided to set the natural gas-filled hole on fire.
According to the Daily Mail, the geologists had hoped that the flaming hole would burn out within a few days, however, 40 years later, “The Door to Hell” as it has now come to be known, still burns as strong as ever. The burning crater creates a glow that can be seen for miles around Derweze.
Dogo News points out that in April of 2010, the president of Turkmenistan visited the site and ordered that it be covered up and shut. So far it has not happened, but is still a possibility in the near future.
Visitors coming to see “The Door to Hell” can only spend about 5 minutes on average around the site because of the hazardous methane gas the flaming hole produces.

A creepy teacher took photos of his unsuspecting female students and posted them on the internet, according to reports.
A substitute teacher in Coweta County, Georgia, is supposedly a real danger to society for taking suggestive pictures of his female students to post them on the Creepshots Reddit forum. The students, who are quite possibly minors of East Coweta High School, saw candid photos of themselves in a sexually explicit forum. The subsection is dedicated to capturing photos of the bodies of women in public without their consent and has a warning of 18+.

Shock and disbelief could best serve as the words that capture the mood of both residents and passers by who watched in total wonderment, a new born baby disposed in a refuse dump along egbu road as he cried to d***th.
THE GUIDE reporter who visited the area, disclosed that the new baby was well dressed and was found by some hausa men who were scavangind the dump site in search of tins and iron materials.
According to them as soon as they found the bag, they opened it and discovered a baby wrapped in nylon. When they untied the nylon, they discovered that the baby had already died with most parts of its body seriously burnt.

MEND Threatens To Attack Mosques, Islamic Clerics, Others
The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) has threatened to launch violent attacks on mosques, hajj camps, Islamic institutions, large congregations of Islamic followers, as well as assassinations of clerics who propagate doctrines of hate.
According to MEND in a statement issued on Sunday evening and signed by its spokesperson Gbomo Jomo, the proposed attacks is a crusade to save Christianity in Nigeria from annihilation and will form the core mission of this crusade code named “Operation Barbarossa”.
According to MEND, "On behalf of the hapless Christian population in Nigeria, the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (M.E.N.D), will from Friday, May 31, 2013, embark on a crusade to save Christianity in Nigeria from annihilation. Call it faith, you might be right. The family of Mr. Lucky Ebebi, one of the 12 policemen presumed dead after an attack by ex-militants at Azuzama, Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State had cause to smile, as the man resurfaced alive on Thursday.
In fact, his name, Lucky, may have played a divine role in his release...
Recalled that 12 policemen were ambushed in last Saturday’s attack which the Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND) claimed responsibility.
According to Femi Folaranmi of The Sun, when the 10 bodies of the policemen were recovered and brought to Yenagoa, Mr. Victor Ebebi, the senior brother to Lucky, who was among members of families that besieged the Yenagoa and Government jetty in the state capital to check the bodies insisted that he did not believe his brother is dead.
